The Production Insider About

Who is behind
The Garment Floor

👋 A production insider. Twenty-five years of it.

I worked inside brand production departments — the side that follows production for high-end fashion brands. For 25 years my job was the unglamorous part of fashion: chasing production schedules, sitting in cutting rooms, arguing over samples, walking QC stations, and being the person a brand calls when something on the floor goes wrong.

I have watched beautiful designs die in bad factories. I have watched cheap quotes turn into expensive shipments. And I have watched the good floors — the ones most brand owners never get to see — do things completely differently.

Everything I share on The Garment Floor comes from that. Real cases from real production runs. Real problems, exactly as they happened. The good, the bad, and the expensive lessons.

🫣 Why anonymous?

On purpose. The face stays off camera and the name stays off the page, for two reasons.

First — the information is the point. If the lessons are good, they stand on their own. If they are not, no face would save them.

Second — the people I worked with, and the factories I walked, deserve their privacy. Some stories are useful precisely because they went wrong. I tell them honestly, but I leave the names out.

So read it as what it is: one insider’s notes from 25 years on the floor, written down while the lessons are still sharp.

What I shareHow factories really work — tech packs, sampling, quality tiers, factory selection, and the real cases in between. Everything a fashion brand learns about production the expensive way.
What I don’t doNo sponsors. No paid placements. No factory recommendations for sale. When I mention AI tools or vetting methods, it’s because I use them — not because someone paid for the mention.
What you can trustThe cases happened. The numbers are the ones I saw. When something is my personal opinion rather than floor experience, I say so in the episode.

“Every lesson on this floor was paid for by someone.
The point of this channel is that you don’t have to pay for it twice.”
